Parking and transport at Curtin are a serious barrier to students accessing their education.
Students are spending up to an hour searching for parking, paying for more expensive bays, arriving late to class, and struggling with rising costs during a cost of living crisis.
At the same time, Curtin has lost hundreds of parking bays due to construction projects, placing enormous pressure on the system, particularly with the loss of cheaper green bays.

We keep hearing from students who are stressed, exhausted and struggling to get to campus affordably and reliably. Students should not be priced out of attending university because they cannot afford fuel, parking or the time it takes to fight for a car bay every morning.
The Curtin Student Guild has been pushing hard for practical relief measures, but Curtin management has not been moving fast enough to back in students while cost pressures continue to worsen.
Instead, practical proposals are being bogged down in bureaucracy while students continue paying the price.
The Guild is calling for:
- Free parking for carpooling and student residents
- Free parking during exam periods
- Converting yellow bays into cheaper green bays
- Food for Fines as a permanent year round program
- Expanded CurtinLink services and express buses
- Fuel and travel support for students on placement, research or travelling to Kalgoorlie
- A commitment to a multi deck carpark

These are practical solutions that could be implemented right now. Other universities already offer measures like free parking for students who carpool. Curtin students deserve the same support.
Now we need students and staff to stand together and tell Curtin that enough is enough.
