Hey everyone, my name is Taha Zaidi and I'm running for Guild Councillor!
I'm a penultimate-year Civil Engineering (Honours) student heading into my thesis year. I'm involved with the Curtin Civil Engineering Association (CCEA), engaging closely with industry through site visits and events, and I've spent the past three years getting a genuine feel for what actually makes the Curtin experience work, and where it falls short.
A few things I want to push on Council:
Parking — genuinely one of the most common frustrations on campus, and it deserves a real, data-backed case taken to university operations, not just noise.
Cost of living — making sure existing support (hardship funds, financial aid, food relief) is actually visible and easy to find, not buried.
Lecture and learning quality — pushing for better recording standards (audio, camera angles, whiteboard visibility) so students who can't always make it to class in person aren't left behind.
Accountability — making sure Guild sub-committees and reps are actually delivering on what they promise, not just on paper.
I believe good governance is consistent, not loud. I want to show up, ask the right questions, and make sure every student's voice genuinely reaches the table.
