Hey everyone! My name is Hanieh Wazefadost, and I’m a first-year Medical Imaging student running for Guild Council with ELEVATE Your Voice!
As a new student, I’m still close to the questions and frustrations every first year student faces: confusing systems, unclear communication and not knowing where to turn when something isn’t working. This recent experience is the unique perspective that the Curtin Student Guild needs. I’m able to fight to improve the experience that you’ve gone through and that thousands of people in the coming years will go through.
If elected, I want to make university easier to navigate and manage. I’ll push for clearer, more consistent communication about enrolment, assessments, extensions, student services and the support that is already available. Important information should be easy to find, written in clear plain language and shared BEFORE students struggle.
I also want to help make campus more affordable and welcoming. That means making cost-of-living support, food relief and financial assistance more visible, improving transport to Curtin and more and cheaper parking. I also want to improve clubs, events and spaces that help new students find their people.
Most importantly, I want students to feel comfortable raising an issue and know that something will be done about it. I’ll listen to students, ask the right questions, bring their concerns to Council and report back on what is being done. I won’t pretend to have every answer, but I will be approachable, fair and willing to follow through.
I’m running because fresh perspectives matter. Students deserve a Guild that communicates clearly, listens seriously and makes university feel less confusing and more connected for everyone.
