Greetings!! My name is Byron Swallow (he/him/she/her), and I am running to be a Guild Councillor and National Union of Students (NUS) Delegate! I am currently in my 2nd year of a Bachelor of Advanced Biomedical Science (Honours).
I have a passion and history of helping amplify students’ voices, opinions, and actively working towards their wants and needs to better their education, wellbeing, and visibility. I gained student leadership experience through my time as a high school councillor (2020-24) and I have followed through my team-based and leadership roles into the Curtin Musicians Club (Acting Secretary/Committee 2025, Secretary 2026).
I am running to be an NUS delegate as I strive for the betterment of students’ education and welfare. I am strongly passionate about making education more accessible, easier to navigate, greater transparency around career paths and keeping the overall curiosity, health, sustainability and academic engagement of scholars and academics alive. University life is more than education, it also encompasses the people, relationships, networks, events, memories, and routine.
My goal is to ensure that students have the necessary educational, welfare, accessibility, and equity support to better support them during tertiary education and further develop accessibility to support, networking opportunities, and sustainability for their futures both personally and professionally.
