Hello!! My name is Fadwa Saleh (she/her), and I’m excited to be running for Science and Engineering Faculty Representative!! <3
As a mechanical engineering student myself, I get how difficult university can be. Between assignments, labs and group projects, trying to maintain a life outside of uni can be overwhelming for Science and Engineering students. My goal is to help make student life easier, more connected and a lot more enjoyable for everyone.
Outside of my studies, I’m a founding member and Vice President of the Curtin Fashion Society, as well as a committee member of the Middle Eastern and North African Club. I’ve also been volunteering with Blooming Hearts, a City of Canning-funded group focused on uplifting young women, for the past three years. These experiences have taught me the significance of creating welcoming communities and ensuring people from diverse backgrounds feel represented and included.
I’m also passionate about engineering outside the classroom! I love motorsports and learning how to work on cars, and I’d love to help other students explore their interests in STEM beyond their coursework.
I want to encourage more opportunities for students to connect, support each other and build friendships within our faculty. I want to advocate for better access to resources and materials that will allow students to explore their interests and develop skills outside of their degree. I want to help create a faculty environment where students from all backgrounds feel welcomed, represented and encouraged to pursue their interests in STEM.
I want to be a representative who understands students, and makes sure their voices are heard. I want to be someone you feel comfortable approaching, whether you have concerns about your course, ideas for improving student life, or simply wanting more opportunities within SciEng.
