Hi everyone, I’m Sufiyan Saeed (he/him), and I’m running for a Guild Councillor position with the Momentum team!
I’m in my first semester studying a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in accounting and audit analysis. Like a lot of you, I am already feeling the balancing act of university life. Between keeping up with my classes, working shifts at Hungry Jack's, and delivering for Domino’s, I know exactly how tough it is to juggle everything while trying to get a degree.
Student life should not be this difficult. Right now, there are major issues on campus that we need to fix. The condition of student accommodations is poor. Places like Vickery House and Kurrajong Village desperately need upgrades, as nobody should have to live and study in rooms without air conditioning during the hotter months. On top of that, the burden of paid parking is completely unfair. Students already pay enough for their education, and being charged high fees just to park your car and go to class is unacceptable. I will fight hard to improve our living conditions and push for fairer, more affordable parking policies.
I am also fully behind other Momentum to ease your daily stress. I want to help bring in a 48 hour assessment grace period to give you a bit of breathing room when life gets in the way. I also support a $10 meal price cap at Cafe Central and free daily breakfasts, because no one should have to study hungry.
I want to be a voice for everyday students. I want to listen, audit, and speak on behalf of all of you to make sure your concerns are actually acted upon.
