Hey, I’m Levi Potts. I am studying social work at Curtin and I’m a socialist activist on campus. I’m running with Socialist Action for the position of Vice President – Activities.
I’m running with Socialist Action because I strongly believe that we need to politicise campus, especially in a time like today. To do this, we need to make activism one of the main activities performed by the Guild. In doing so, I want to build the environment to tackle the issues facing young people as they enter the world today, such as the fight back against the far-right.
In times like these, with far-right parties such as One Nation rising to widespread support and spreading hateful rhetoric, it is imperative to fight back against their backwards world view. We need to turn the university campus into a bastion of anti-racism. I believe that the Guild in its current state is unable to rise to this occasion, and as such, we as a student body need to work together to build a Guild capable of this struggle.
The only way we can do that? Voting Socialist Action this year.
