Kaya! Hello! Assalamualaikum! I'm Aneeqa (She/Her), a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and International Relations) student running to be your Guild Councillor and National Union of Students (NUS) delegate with Momentum!
I'm involved in a lot of extracurriculars at Curtin; from working as an events officer in the club space, to designing a youth event with the Entrepreneurship Hub, to volunteering with the Law Clinics. All these leadership roles have given me real insight into what students need. I'm running to build on that by actively listening, taking feedback onboard, and making sure your voices are heard on issues both locally and nationally.
A big part of how I'll do this, and something Momentum is pushing for, is a public "you said, we did" system that tracks complaints, who's reviewed them, what decisions were made, and what solutions came out of it. I'll also be advocating to expand Curtin Link, having more parking bays, and to extend free parking across campus — something Momentum Office Bearers already secured for exam weeks last semester.
On top of that, I want to make elected representatives more contactable through public events where students can raise issues and get involved, push for a 40% assessment cap across all faculties, and help create more inclusive and diverse Guild events.
As your NUS delegate, I'll take Curtin's most pressing issues and fight for them on a national level including campaigning for better quality of education, paid placements, and stopping the uni merger!
If there's something you want advocated for, whether it's big or small, reach out! I want the Guild and NUS to be shaped by what students actually need, not what's assumed on their behalf.
My ambition for Curtin is a campus that reflects real change, not just promises, because students deserve leaders who follow through.
