Hello, my name is Manpreet Kaur (She/Her) and I’m running to be your Faculty of Business and Law Representative with Momentum!
As a Curtin Law student and Student Ambassador, I understand the pressures students face; from the rising cost of living to changes in how we are assessed. With AI reshaping university education, I believe we need to have a serious conversation about law exams, assessments and whether increasing exam requirements are actually helping students learn. I want an education system that tests our understanding, not simply our ability to memorise information under time pressure.
Through my role as a Student Discipline Panel Panellist, I have gained insight into university decision-making and the importance of fair, transparent and student-focused outcomes. My involvement in Students for Refuge and the Curtin Podcast Society has also strengthened my ability to listen, communicate and turn ideas into action.
If elected, I will fight for the issues that directly affect Business and Law students:
STOP THE UNI MERGER. Students deserve a genuine voice in decisions that could fundamentally change our university. I will push for greater transparency, consultation and meaningful student involvement.
$10 MEAL PRICE CAP AT CAFE CENTRAL. With students facing increasing cost-of-living pressures, affordable food on campus should not be a luxury. Therefore, I will push for a $10 meal price cap at Cafe Central.
FREE EXAM PRINTING. Students should not have to pay to print the materials they need to prepare for exams, so I will advocate for free exam printing.
BETTER LAW ASSESSMENTS. With AI changing how we learn and complete assessments, we need assessment that prioritises genuine understanding and learning, not simply memorising information and reproducing it under exam conditions.
I’m not running to hold a title. I’m running because I believe student representatives should listen, speak up and follow through.
I’m here to represent you and fight for practical changes that make student life better.
