Hello!
My name is Rozhan Karazmoudeh (She/Her) and I am running to be your Faculty of Science and Engineering Representative with Momentum.
As an engineering student, I am aware of how demanding these degrees can be (considering the workload and expensive materials). With assessment deadlines, labs, group projects, and exams piling up quickly, I want to represent students by pushing for changes that make the university more manageable and deliver the learning experience Curtin students deserve!
I fully support Momentum’s policy platform, my favourites including: a 48-hour assessment grace period; a policy that will fix the disproportionate backlash from the submission of late assessments. I will push for free exam printing, free breakfasts, and a $10 meal price cap at Cafe Central. As your Faculty Representative, I will push for a reduction in materials that need to be purchased, such as lab materials. I feel that it is unnecessary to have students buy their own lab coats, which are needed for less than 10 hours across 2 semesters!
For Science and Engineering students in particular, I want to advocate for a revision of all first year units, including the COMP1005 unit outlines and other possible units that students find unnecessarily challenging. By collaborating directly with unit coordinators, I plan to ensure that feedback from student experience surveys are actually implemented, resulting in clearer marking rubrics and more accessible tutoring support during peak assessment periods.
Most importantly, I want students to have a representative who actually listens. Whether it is an issue with the facilities, assessments, or something that is not being accounted for, I will always advocate for you.
