HAYDAR, Millie (ELEVATE Your Voice)

humanities

Hey everyone! My name is Emelia (Millie) Haydar and I’m a first-year Humanities student, double majoring in International Relations and Japanese!! I’m running for Humanities Representative because I want to support Humanities students and make sure their voices are heard.

Since coming to Curtin I’ve gotten involved with the Japanese Club, Free Food Society and the International Relations Committee. From these experiences and being involved in these communities I've been able to meet lots of different students and understand how important it is to feel connected and supported at university.

As Humanities Representative, I want to be someone students can come to with their concerns, ideas and experiences. I will be devoted to listening to what students actually need and advocate for positive changes within Humanities. Whether it's being a voice for raising concerns about courses, improving communication between students and the university, or creating more opportunities for students to connect, I want to make sure students feel represented.

Sometimes our Humanities department can feel overlooked and appreciated. I want to fix this alongside you.

I believe Uni should be more than just attending classes and meeting deadlines. It should be a place where you feel welcomed, supported and able to find your community. I want to help create a stronger Humanities community where students feel comfortable speaking up and know that someone is there to listen.

Every student has a voice and those voices lead to meaningful change. If you have an idea, concern or something you think could be improved, I want to hear from you.
