Hey everyone, I'm Meghana Gowda (me-guh-naa) (She/Her) and I'm running for Women's Officer with Momentum in the upcoming election💗
I'm extremely passionate about Women's health and fitness and have previously facilitated a Women's only martial arts course at UWA. This experience has taught me that a community of independent, like-minded women supporting each other is important to thrive!
I am also acting secretary at AikidoWA, an organisation who teach and practice Aikido (a Japanese martial art). Through my role, I have learnt to listen and adapt to each person's needs to make sport accessible for them.
If elected, I will provide:
- A plentiful supply of accessible women's sanitary products
- An overall increase in women's events
- More sanitary bins
- And revive the Women's Equity Room (106F.110A on Elsie).
I will fight for better access to Women's health services, because women should feel safe in their bodies and comfortable talking to their GP's.
I will advocate for a broader range of security services for our Bentley and City campuses, as everyone should feel safe staying on campus after dark and taking public transport.
I will provide women's fitness initiatives, because with strength comes empowerment in all aspects of life.
I will continue the work of the broader union movement in the fight for gender equality and equal pay. And most importantly, I will always advocate for feminism and women's rights, because we deserve an equal opportunity to achieve our goals.
I want to listen to your concerns and find solutions, because I'm here to represent you.
“I’m not going to limit myself just because people won’t accept the fact that I can do something else.”
