Hey, I'm Zachary (He/Him), and I'm running for Guild Councillor and for the National Union of Students (NUS) under Momentum!
I moved up to Perth from the Great Southern to study at Curtin, and part of what I'm passionate about is making sure uni life is as stress-free as possible and that there are enough resources to support students through their studies.
Affordability is a crucial part of what I like to advocate for, especially since Australia is facing a cost-of-living crisis that is causing financial strain on so many people. If I'm elected to Guild Council, I'll make sure that I consistently advocate for cheaper food options on campus, such as expanding student saver deals, pushing free for breakfasts every day, and campaigning for a $10 meal price cap at Guild Cafe Central.
Part of a stress-free uni experience is also knowing that your university isn't going to be merged with another, which is why I will stand against the uni merger and try my hardest to stop it from happening.
As part of the NUS, I'll listen to students' struggles and concerns and advocate for them, making sure that students are heard on a large, national platform.
I'm running for council and NUS to make sure that students are heard and that their problems are addressed. If elected, I promise to speak up for our students constantly and keep that momentum going!
