CHAUDHARI, Amol (Momentum)

councillors

Hi, I'm Amol, and I'm currently Vice President (Education) of the Western Australian School of Mines (WASM) Guild here in Kalgoorlie!

I'm putting my hand up for Guild Councillor at Curtin, Bentley, because there's only so much I can fix from inside WASM alone. Some items need to be pushed at the Curtin Student Guild-Bentley level, and I want to be the person carrying Kalgoorlie’s voice into that room.

What I've already done:

As VP Education, I haven't just talked about backing students; I've done it. I've sat with students well past assessment due dates to get their final marks reviewed and corrected when the marking wasn't fair. I've helped students get assessment extensions approved in situations where they'd almost given up hope. I fought for postgrad accommodation rights, and that fight paid off - the new Agricola rules for postgrad students changed because of it. And when students asked for longer library hours, I followed through and got them extended.

None of these were quick wins. They took follow-ups, persistence, and I refused to let an issue drop until it was actually fixed. That's the kind of representative I want to be for every Curtin student, not just the ones at WASM but at all Curtin campuses.

Vision for the role:

  • Remote access to computer labs for every student.
  • Accommodation coaches based here in Kalgoorlie, not decisions flown in from Perth.
  • No more assessment due dates clashing back-to-back; students deserve breathing room.
  • Additional 24/7 access to libraries and computer labs.
  • Fair, consistent marking on every assessment, every time.
  • More site visits throughout the year, not limited to WIL week.
  • Practical and simulation training for final-semester students before they head into the workforce.
  • Free exam printing from the library.
  • Standing up for every student's rights, no exceptions.

I'm not interested in making promises I can't back up. Everything on this list comes from what students have actually told me they need, and I've already shown I follow through once I commit to something. If you want Kalgoorlie's issues taken seriously at Guild Council or at Bentley Level, not as an afterthought but as a priority.

I'd appreciate your vote! Lets keep up the Momentum!
