My name is Ben Burgess (he/him) and I am nominating for Guild Council! Over the past three years I have served as a Guild Councillor and as your 2025 Vice President Education. In these roles I have worked closely with students, staff and the University to make sure your voice is not only heard but acted on.
Beyond academic policy I have consistently supported student life on campus. As the former President of Curtin Games and Esports I transformed the club into a stronger and more engaged community. Since then I have continued to offer my time as an advisor to clubs finding their footing and navigating challenges. I understand how important a vibrant campus culture is and how much events and clubs contribute to the student experience.
As part of the Momentum team, I'm campaigning for items that will benefit all students across Curtin's campuses. These items include:
- A 48-hour assessment grace period
- $10 meal cap @ Café Central
- Free breakfast every day
- Free Exam printing
- An increase in Guild discount from 10% to 15%
These are just some of the many that we hope to achieve if we are elected.
Guild Councillors have an important role in the Guild. These roles include discussing finance and governance, ensuring representatives fulfil their roles, monitoring the progress of Guild sub-committees, and discussing wider student issues and the actions we need to take to address them.
