Hi everyone, my name is Zahra Anwary (she/her), and I’m running for Guild Councillor.
It’s always valuable to have a fresh perspective in the room, and I hope to bring that to the role.
One of my favourite parts of university is meeting new people and hearing about their experiences. As a Journalism and Law student, much of my time at uni involves listening to people and asking the right questions to understand the decisions that affect them. This has taught me to take a solutions-based approach for any situations I encounter and is something I aim to carry into the position as Councillor.
If elected, I want to use my passion for people to understand the concerns students have and ensure they are properly represented in the conversations happening within the Guild. I also want to contribute new ideas and be involved in the areas where I can make a meaningful difference.
For me, being a Guild Councillor means being an active member of the conversations happening around uni and seeing if anything can be done about them by being part of the decision-making process. I’m excited by the opportunity to get more involved in the Guild and make the most of what I can bring to the role.
