Hey everyone! My name is Raha Anwar, and I’m a first-year Law student running to be one of your Guild Councillors!
I believe university should be about more than lectures, assignments and the occasional academic crisis. It should also be a place where students feel represented, supported and genuinely part of a community.
I’ve always loved getting involved and advocating for others. Before university, I was Head Girl, where I represented students, organised initiatives and worked closely with students and staff. I was also a United Nations Youth finalist, which grew my passion for advocacy and speaking up about issues affecting young people.
At Curtin, I’m involved with the Curtin Student Law Society (CSLS) and will be stepping into the role of Careers Officer next year, helping students connect with career opportunities and get more out of their degree.
As a Guild Councillor, I want to be someone students can actually approach. I want to listen to your ideas and concerns, bring them to the table, and speak up when something could be done better. I also want to help create more opportunities, improve the student experience and make sure the Guild is genuinely working for the students it represents.
Most importantly, I don’t want to just sit in meetings once a month and call it representation. I want to listen, speak up and actually contribute.
I’d love the opportunity to represent you and help make Curtin a place we can all get a little more out of, even with the assignments and 8am classes.
