PSC Successfully Advocates For An Increased Stipend for HDR Students

Guild Updates

Thanks to the advocacy efforts made by your Postgraduate Student Committee and in response to the increasing costs of living, Curtin University has decided to increase the minimum full-time stipend for HDR students to $32,250pa. An 11.8% increase from $28,854 in 2022.

This change applies to both existing and new students, and for both RTP and University strategic scholarships.

The increased stipend will provide HDR students with greater financial security, enabling them to focus on their studies and research without worrying about financial stress.

For stipends covered by existing contractual arrangements and funded by external partners, Curtin University encourages those partners to bear the increased costs and ensure that stipends are above the Henderson poverty line. In cases where this is not possible, the Research Office at Curtin, Graduate Research School will meet the difference in costs.
