Curtin Student Guild has been named a finalist in the prestigious 2018 Savour Awards for Excellence.
The Guild operates nine outlets at Curtin University’s Bentley campus as well as the iconic Tavern and a catering service.
According to Guild President Liam O’Neill, the Guild is competing for an award in the industrial/institutional caterer category.
The Guild has previously been a finalist in 2016 and 2017 and category winner in 2015.
“We are one of few student bodies in Australia that continues to operate commercial food outlets on campus.”
Mr O’Neill said that the Guild employs a team of chefs who prepare fresh food daily offering students and staff diverse cuisines.
“Our role is to assist students get the most out of their university experience and providing convenient and quality food at competitive prices is one of our most important functions,” he said.
The Guild dishes out more than 100,000 hot meals, one million espresso shots and close to 120,000 sushi packs to tens of thousands of Curtin students and staff each year.
Recently the Guild introduced biodegradable products to its outlets replacing plastic containers with carbon neutral and biodegradable alternatives.
The winners of the Savour awards will be announced on 13 August.
