Hello!
My name is Aashiq Vagh (He/Him). I am currently a final year Law and International Relations student, and I am honoured to be a running as a Guild Council Candidate.
If I am elected, a core focus of mine will be to advocate for the law students studying in the Perth city campus during their trimesters. The law students studying at the law school in the city deserve better for tuition and amenities fees paid each year. As such, I have experienced the poor study spaces, the broken air conditioning, and the lack of security when studying at the law school campus first-hand, and I would like to advocate for positive change. For example. I want to push for more accessible 24/7 study spaces – especially for law students, and stronger campus safety measures.
I have previous experience as a committee member in the Curtin International Relations Society, working at the Perth Magistrates Courts, and advocating for disadvantaged clients at the John Curtin Legal Clinic. These experiences have taught me how to advocate effectively and make meaningful change.
I am happy to listen to any issues that humanities and law students care about, regardless of their magnitude. I believe that I will be able to make Curtin University a better and more supportive place for all of us, not just during our time here, but for future students as well. I am here to listen, advocate, and act on your behalf.
