Hello Reader!
My name is Nandani Khetia (she/her) and I am a first-year postgraduate student studying Master’s of Dietetics. I am currently the Postgraduate Student Committee Health Sciences Representative, and I am running for Postgraduate Student Committee president with Illuminate!
I come from Nairobi, Kenya, where I completed my undergraduate degree in Food Science, Nutrition, and Dietetics. Throughout my high school and undergraduate years, I was involved in different clubs and volunteer work, particularly in rural areas of Kenya. These experiences have helped me develop leadership skills and also a strong sense of responsibility towards making a positive impact on people’s health and well-being. I learnt the importance of helping others and being part of a community.
If elected as Postgraduate Student Committee President, I will work towards expanding health services on campus, to include more mental health and nutrition support, so that student needs are better met. I will advocate for free weekly nutritious meal giveaways to help promote student well-being. I will also advocate for paid placements across all faculties, and not just a select few. I believe every postgraduate student deserves the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in their field without financial strain. Additionally, I will work on creating more networking opportunities with industry professionals to help postgraduate students build valuable connections for their careers.
I aim to ensure every postgraduate student feels valued and supported during their time at Curtin.
