Kaya, kia ora, salam and hello!
My name is Zobia (she/her), and I’m a second-year Biomedical Sciences student running for Health Science Representative with Illuminate.
As your Health Science Representative, I’ll be the direct link between you, the Guild, and the Health Faculty. My role is to hold Curtin accountable, challenge them when needed, and ensure that your issues, ideas, and suggestions are not only heard but acted upon.
This year, I’ve had the privilege of serving as Vice-President of the Biomedical Sciences Club, while also completing countless hours of volunteering across a range of roles and environments. These opportunities have strengthened my leadership, diplomacy, communication, and organisational skills—qualities I am eager to bring to the Guild as I represent Health students in front of the University, on panels, boards, at events, and in everyday student life.
I am not just active in our community, I am proactive. In 2026, I will fight to ensure lecturers and tutors receive the educational training they need to uphold the rights of students to a world-class education. I will push for better opportunities for societies to collaborate, helping to build stronger connections across courses that often feel isolated. I will continue to advocate for paid placements across all Health degrees, making them fairer, more accessible, and properly valued for the time and effort we contribute. Above all, I want to hear your stories and experiences, and use them to drive meaningful change that ensures your education and time at Curtin truly reflect your needs.
If you want a Health Science Representative who will stand up, speak out, and fight for you, then:
