Hello,
My name is Joanna Kuo (She/Her) and I’m a first-year Engineering student, running for the position of Guild Councillor.
I am an international student from Taiwan. I’ve lived in Perth for four years and currently stay in on-campus accommodation. I know what it’s like to begin a new chapter far from family, to spend hours commuting every day just to be here at Curtin pursuing a world class education. Every one of us has worked hard to be here, and I believe we deserve the best possible campus experience in return.
If I am elected, my key priorities will be:
-
Affordable food: healthier, quality meals on campus at fairer prices.
-
Fair support during exams: free parking in study and exam weeks, so students can focus on results, not fines.
-
More study spaces: creating additional private study rooms across campus as study rooms in library often overcrowded.
I bring years of leadership and advocacy experience as a Girl Guide Leader, a school ambassador, a volunteer with Girls Engineering Tomorrow, and a mentor in Coder Dojo who teaches coding to children with autism. Moreover, I just started the position of Notion Campus Leader at Curtin University r, and I hope I can help other students stay organised, succeed and reach their full potential.
