Hey! I’m Finn Gardoll (he/him), a second-year Economics and International Relations student, and I’m running to be one of your Guild Councillors!
Like many students, I’ve had my fair share of struggles at Curtin, definitely more than I’d like to admit. That’s why I’m passionate about making campus more accessible and supportive for everyone. What does that mean? More bus routes, stronger financial, legal, and mental health support, and better guidance for students who aren’t sure where to begin their academic journey, whether they live on campus or commute. No one should be left behind.
I’ve also seen the best and worst of classes here. Too often, unit structures rely on assessment types students dislike; group projects being just one example. Curtin is a great university, but there’s always room for improvement.
Through Illuminate and the Guild, I’ve met some of the most capable and passionate people. I want others to have that same chance to build connections, discover opportunities, and feel supported in ways they might not even know exist.
Illuminate represents both newcomers and long-standing students. Our values of equality, communication, and a progressive outlook are exactly what I want to uphold in student politics.
New semesters should be exciting, not overwhelming. I’ll fight to make sure every student feels confident in their course, finances, and career.
