Hello!
My name is Ebony Whitney (She/Her). I’m a first year Law and International Relations student, running for a position as Guild Councillor!
I am a regional student staying in on-campus accommodation. If I am elected, a core focus of mine will be cost of living, particularly for our on-campus students. I believe we deserve better for the prices we are paying. I will also be advocating for additional financial, social and emotional support for students who have moved away from their homes and families to continue their education at Curtin University.
Outside of university I am also advocating against the proposed nuclear power plant in my hometown of Collie. I want the power supply of our state to be fully renewable, not enter an age of nuclear power generation.
I have over 8 years of advocacy experience in student councils, I have been a member of Youth Parliament, and in 2023 I represented Australian youth internationally in Auckland at ANZAC Day commemorations. I am a Julia Gillard Women in Leadership Scholar, and I believe I will be able to make Curtin University a better, more affordable place for all students.
