Hello!
My name is Ebony Whitney (She/Her) and I’m running to be your Faculty of Business and Law Representative and for the National Union of Students (NUS) with Illuminate!
Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of serving as a Guild Councillor, giving me valuable insight into how the Guild operates and how to effectively advocate for students. I am also the President of the Curtin Student Housing Society, where I’ve worked closely with students living on campus to help improve their experience and push back against unfair costs. These roles have strengthened my ability to listen, represent, and deliver meaningful outcomes for students.
If elected as Faculty of Business and Law Representative, I will continue advocating for cost-of-living relief and ensure the voices of business and law students are heard loud and clear. Students at the Murray Street campus deserve far better for the tuition and amenities fees they pay. I will fight for improved study spaces, reliable facilities, and stronger campus safety measures, so business and law students can feel supported in both their academic and personal wellbeing.
I will also work towards securing more in-person lecture options for business students. Students should always have the choice to attend lectures in person rather than being restricted to online delivery. Education should be flexible, accessible, and responsive to student needs, not simply what is most convenient for the university.
As an NUS Delegate, I will take Curtin students’ concerns to the national stage, campaigning for paid placements, affordable housing, and stronger investment in student welfare and education standards.
I am here to listen to your stories, amplify your voices, and fight for the changes you deserve, whether that’s on campus, in the city, or across Australia.
