G’day! I’m David, and I’m excited to be running for the Guild Councillor position. As a current small business owner, first-year Guild Representative and someone deeply committed to student wellbeing, I believe in making our university experience as enriching and accessible as possible.

My Experience:

I run a small tutoring business where I manage a collection of tutors and digital software packages to help high school students achieve their academic goals affordably.

I’ve received the Australian Defence Force Long Tan Leadership Award twice (2021 and 2023) for my efforts in bringing a team of people together to advocate for, and achieve changes to statewide secondary school education software (Connect) and significant environmental improvements (such as electronic hand dryers rather than paper towels).

On top of this, I’m a current First Year Guild representative and am looking to continue my enthusiasm into making everyone’s time at Curtin as great as it can be!

Why I'm Running:

Curtin University should be a place where all students feel supported, engaged, and empowered to achieve their best. However, I know that for many new students, navigating university life can be challenging. That's why I'm committed to breaking down barriers and ensuring every student has the resources they need to thrive.

My Priorities for the Guild:

• Affordable, Healthy Food Options: University life shouldn’t mean compromising on health. I will advocate for cheaper, healthier food options that are accessible to all students, helping everyone fuel their studies without breaking the bank.

• Increased Discounts: I want to see the Guild discount increased to 20%, putting more money back in your pocket and making day-to-day expenses just a bit easier to manage.

• Transparency and Accountability: Students deserve to know how their money is being spent. I will work to increase transparency in how Guild funds AND Curtin University finances are allocated, ensuring that every dollar is used effectively to benefit the student community.

Every student deserves to have a great experience at Curtin, and I will strive to listen to your concerns, advocate on your behalf, and make sure that your time at Curtin is not just good, but the best it can be.

For a Guild that is more transparent, more inclusive, more accessible and dedicated to enhancing your university life, vote David!
