Hey, my name is Sergio Gut, I am a 3rd year Bachelor of Commerce student and am running to be your Vice President for Campus Activities in the 2026 Curtin Student Guild.
Thanks to the two left-wing party system, the guild’s priorities have turned to activism. Let me be clear, the Guild’s top priority should always be the Students. There is no pragmatic, student-based alternative advocating for the needs of the everyday Curtin student.
That is why we have formed a new party, Reform.
We will fight to re-prioritise the issues before the guild. Ask yourself, should extremist-like activism be the guild’s number one priority?
We will put the needs of the Curtin student first. We would not storm the TL Robertson Library during study week. We would not trap engineering students in the engineering building.
This is not putting you first, and it has gone on for far too long.
We need Reform.
We need to restore balance on campus, where student wellbeing is fostered. We will advocate for the everyday freedoms all students should have.
This is NOT the Federal Parliament!
Looking back at your university life, it’s not right that you should only see it as a career stepping stone with headache politics happening every day on campus. In the future I wish for all students to look back at their university life as a fun and memorable one. Coming into Curtin I had the expectation of entering an exciting season of my life, many of you students have begun your uni life with the same expectations. Let’s make sure we and future students don’t face a different reality.
Let’s remind ourselves that the Curtin Student Guild is a Student union that should advocate for all Curtin students.
We will fight for the things that the everyday student actually wants:
- Fighting for more Uni Parties
- Food trucks and sports competitions on warm evenings (grassed areas)
- Pool Tournaments at the Tav
- Student-led tours around Perth, including wine tours
- Faculty focused study and hangout areas
- A fairer and better Group Library Booking system
We do need change.
We do need Reform.
But we can’t do it without your support.
