Hey! I’m Connie, a first-year Engineering student, and I’m running for Science and Engineering Representative and the National Union of Students for 2026!
I’m running because our faculty needs a rep who listens first, acts decisively, and ensures students are prioritised in all decision making.
I’m experienced in standing up for students. I know how top-down decisions impact our learning and wellbeing, and I will always challenge policies that fail us. I value transparency, inclusion, and practical solutions that improve everyday student life. I’m approachable, diligent and persistent; qualities I’ll use to build a supportive, student-led community, aligned with Illuminate’s progressive values.
If elected, I will work to secure fair and affordable housing for our on-campus students, who face rental stress and rising costs. I’ll push for meaningful improvements to our learning environment, such as safer and more inclusive workshop spaces, reliable access to essential equipment without hidden fees, faster grading, and better access to past assessments. Finally, I’ll work to lower barriers to learning by expanding software licenses, increasing 24/7 study spaces, and reducing exam clashes that contribute to burnout. To stay accountable, I’ll hold regular listening hours and open forums so you can reach me easily and track the progress we’re making together.
