Hey I’m Arnav (he/him)! I am currently studying a Masters of Professional Accounting and this is my first time running for Guild Council.
I am super excited to be running in the Guild Elections and am hoping that I can make a better change to the student experience if elected!
One of the main things I will fight for if elected to Council is to have more postgrad events on campus! At the moment the postgrad community space is lacking in events and catch up sessions where we can get to know each other. Studying a postgrad can sometimes be an isolating experience so I think it is essential that the Guild hosts more events for post grads.
I also think the university needs to provide better support services for International students. This year many students, especially International students, were struggling to find accommodation due to the shortage in Perth, and when they did, students were often being forced to rent through predatory companies such as UniLodge. Students deserve better and Curtin can afford to help us so it's about time they do!
