Hi everyone!
My name is Mia Antenucci (she/her), and I’m a first-year Psychology student running for Accessibility Officer!
The Accessibility Department exists to advocate for students with disabilities and their carers, ensuring our voices are heard across the Guild and the University. The Accessibility Collective plays a vital role in shaping this work, providing feedback and helping guide events and initiatives.
Over the past year, I’ve been actively involved in the Department. If you’ve come along to any of our events or stalls, chances are you’ve already seen me there! My passion lies in improving the lives of disabled students at Curtin, and I’m committed to working hard to make that happen.
I believe the greatest strength of our community is our diversity. Every disabled student has different needs and experiences; you know best what support works for you. My job as Accessibility Officer will be to listen, amplify your voice, and turn them into action.
If elected, I will continue the fantastic work of previous Officers, including the Guild Accessibility Matrix, Peer Support Sessions (formerly Creative Connections), and our department stalls. I also want to:
• Make Disability Pride Month bigger and better with more activities.
• Simplify processes like CAP plans, assignment extensions, and access to key information.
• Improve campus signage, making Curtin easier to navigate.
• Provide practical solutions that make everyday student life more accessible and enjoyable.
In short: I want to make Curtin a place where all students can access the help they need so students don’t just study, they thrive.
