Statement Release: Response to the Occupation of Building 215

The Curtin Student Guild is aware that a group of protestors gathered inside Building 215 on the Bentley campus on 22^nd May 2024. This action was undertaken without the knowledge or involvement of the Curtin Student Guild, or the Curtin Palestinian Society.

The Gaza solidarity encampment has been respectful and peaceful since it was established on 2 May at Curtin University, and the Guild has been in ongoing negotiations with the University to reach a resolution regarding the encampment’s demands for disclosure and divestment from ties to the war in Palestine.

Whilst the Curtin Student Guild respects all Curtin students’ right to free speech and to protest peacefully, our priority is the safety and wellbeing of all students.
