FOCUS FOR 2025

My focus this year is to:

  • Advocating for International Students: My top priority is to amplify the voices of international students, ensuring their concerns and needs are heard and addressed at every level. Whether it’s navigating visa complexities, tackling financial pressures, or ensuring inclusivity in campus life, I aim to be a strong and consistent voice representing your concerns at every level.

  • Creating a Home Away from Home: There’s much more to uni life other than just studying—it should feel like a community where everyone belongs. My goal is to foster an environment where international students can connect, thrive, and truly feel at home, no matter where they come from or how long they've been here.

  • Celebrating Diversity through Cultural Exchange: I envision a campus alive with the colors and vibrancy of our diverse backgrounds. By organising dynamic cultural events and strengthening collaborations between cultural clubs, I aim to bridge gaps and build meaningful cross-cultural friendships.

ABOUT HUZAIFA

Hi, I’m Huzaifa Nawaz, and I’m truly honored to serve as your International Student Committee President for 2025.

As an international student myself, I understand the unique challenges we face—navigating cultural differences in a totally new environment, balancing studies and jobs with life, managing financial pressures and countless other problems. That is why I’m here—not just as a representative but as one of you, striving to make Curtin a better place for all international students.

Over the past two years, while pursuing Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and serving as the President of the Curtin Bangladeshi Students Association (BSA), I’ve had the privilege of advocating for our community. From organizing cultural events that celebrate diversity and connection to representing our voices on platforms like NATCON, where I highlighted the challenges we face, my goal has always been to ensure our concerns are heard and addressed.

I’ve also had opportunities to appear on news channels, sharing real stories of international students to bring visibility to our experiences. These moments have been humbling reminders of the importance of standing up for each other, and have shaped my commitment to making campus life not just about academics but about community, culture, and connection.

The International Student Committee is here for you; together, we can address the challenges we experience and access welfare support at Curtin. Your ideas and feedback mean everything—because your success is my success, and our collective growth is what drives me.  Feel free to contact me anytime at isc.president@guild.curtin.edu.au

Let’s make 2025 a year at Curtin where we all thrive together.
