EMERGENCY HARDSHIP GRANT
The Curtin Student Guild’s Emergency Hardship Grant may provide current enrolled Curtin students on a low income with financial relief.
The Grant does not provide ongoing support. Grant approval and the amount disbursed is on a case-by-case basis. Application does not guarantee approval. Some grants may be issued in the form of gift cards. To be eligible to apply for the grant, applicants must satisfy the below criteria.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND ELIGIBILITY
- Currently enrolled on-shore Curtin student (domestic or international)
- Able to demonstrate that student or family are on a low income (for example, student or family receive or fit the requirements of a means-tested Centrelink payment)
- Experiencing unexpected circumstances that are causing significant financial hardship
- With the assistance of the Student Assist, demonstrate financial hardship
Curtin Student Guild reserves the right to change the eligibility criteria at any time.
EXCLUSIONS
Grant cannot be used for the following:
- HECS-HELP debts or course fees
- Fines/Sanctions
- Non-essential items such as social/sporting costs
- Holiday costs
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Please have the following documents ready before proceeding with your application
- Confirmation of Enrolment
- Bank statements/transaction history for all bank accounts in your name (and your partner's, if applicable)
- Centrelink payment records (for domestic students, if applicable)
- Two recent work payslips (if applicable)
- Scholarship confirmation letter (if applicable)
- Other income statements (e.g. outstanding bills/tenancy agreement)
DISBURSMENT OF GRANT
Successful applications will be awarded a grant in the form of a voucher(s) or payment/ part payment of a bill or invoice. Funds will not be transferred directly to an applicant’s personal bank account unless exceptional circumstances can be demonstrated.
