VISAS
For any queries regarding your visa requirements, enrolment, and returning home, please contact Curtin Connect.
STUDENT VISA RENEWAL
You can apply for a new student visa yourself or through your agent. It is advisable to start the process 4 – 6 weeks before the expiry of your current visa. You will need a new Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) and extended Health Insurance (OSHC).
CONFIRMATION OF ENROLMENT (CoE)
To request a new CoE online:
- Log into OASIS
- Click on the My Studies tab
- In the quick forms Channel, click on Request for Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) [International Students Only].
Once you have your CoE you are to apply for your new student visa online at the Department of Home Affairs website. You will need to log into your immiAccount to start the online application.
If you need assistance, follow this link to Curtin Connect. They are very helpful and the process is quite easy.
IMMIACCOUNT
If you are going to complete the application yourself, set up an ImmiAccount and follow the Step By Step Guide on the Department of Home Affairs. It is a straightforward process.
OVERSEAS STUDENT HEALTH COVER (OSHC)
Contact your current health care provider. You can do this over the phone.
MIGRATION AND VISA ADVICE
You may be considering seeking assistance with a visa application. It is important that anyone who provides you with advice is qualified, especially if you are paying for it. The Australian Government recommends you check the register of migration agents before engaging with any services.
PROTECTION VISAS
If you are considering applying for a protection visa as a method of remaining in Australia for a longer time, be aware that the Australian Government has strict criteria for protection visas and more information can be found here. They are now being processed significantly faster than in the past.
According to the Department of Home Affairs, 85% of applications are rejected. An unsuccessful application for a protection visa will remain on a person’s record with the Australian Government and potentially impact the chance of success for other visa applications by that person. Australia also has agreements with various countries to share visa refusal data, which may reduce the chances of that person’s successful visa applications for those countries. It is important to ensure your application meets the criteria.
If you would like assistance with your application, there is free legal advice about protection visas available in every Australian state. In Western Australia this is provided through Circle Green Community Legal.
