How do Full Guild Members GET MORE?

A Full Guild Member has access to ALL services and benefits of the Curtin Student Guild. Those students who do not join can only benefit from generic services that the Guild must provide to the student university population as a whole. To see a full list of services, click here!

Do I get Student Discounts if I'm not a Full Guild Member?

No, this is one of the many benefits reserved for Full Guild Members. If you have not paid the Full Guild Membership fee you will not receive a Guild Member sticker. This sticker is your passport to discounts on and off campus.

Why would I want to sign up as a Full Guild Member?

Some Curtin students are unaware that throughout the year, they will need or use the Guild Services at one time or another. Our services are designed with student needs in mind. As the peak student representative body, that is independent of the University, the Guild can protect your student rights and welfare when you have a problem with the University.

Without the Guild most social, sporting and recreational activities that occur on campus would not exist. The Guild is responsible for offering students a more balanced student lifestyle and enriching your University experience (which leads to success in studies and after Graduation too).

Do I need to pay the Amenities & Services Fee (ASF) to be a Guild Member?

The Curtin Student Guild does not require you to pay ASF to be a Full Guild Member.

If you are a Basic Guild Member and pay the ASF fee, the Guild will provide some add-on services to your Basic Guild Membership (including Student Assist Plus, Access/Support in Intervarsity Sport, Legal Assist & Personal Accident Insurance Cover).

In 2007, the Amenities and Services Fee became a voluntary fee and will be linked to provision of prescribed optional amenities, services or facilities.

Only students who choose to use an amenity, service or facility provided through payment of the fee will need to pay the fee.

What are the Basic Guild Member ASF Add-on Services?

The Guild recognises that some students may pay the University's voluntary Amenities & Services Fee (ASF). Paying the ASF fee in 2008 does not buy you a Full Guild Membership with the Curtin Student Guild. However, it does give a Basic Guild Member four add ons to their membership. These include Student Assist Plus, access to Intervarsity Sport (including funding in University Games), Legal Assist & Personal Accident Insurance Cover.

How do I opt out of Guild Membership?

To opt out of a Guild Membership you must fill out the Opt Out form and hand the form into Student Central.

If I am not a Full Guild Member, can I participate in Intervarsity Sport?

If you are a Basic Guild member you may participate in Intervarsity sport, but your support from the Guild will be limited. For example, if you are a Basic Guild Member you can participate in the 2008 University Games in the Gold Coast. The Guild will organise your participation but you will receive no funding support.

Funding students in the University Games is included in the Basic Guild Member ASF Add-on Services and in a Full Guild Membership.

Where can I get a Curtin Student Guild Diary?

The popular Guild Diary is part of the Guild Full Membership & Associate Membership package and is currently not sold separately by the Curtin Student Guild.
