Copy & Design Assistant
The Curtin Student Guild is a medium size organisation providing support to its student members as well as services to the wider University community on and off Campus. As part of the organisation, The Guild Copy & Design Centre (GC&DC) provides a range of services to Curtin University students, staff, the Curtin Student Guild departments and off-campus clients. Services includes: graphic design, copy and digital printing, large format printing and laminating, document finishing and binding, heat press transfer and other related services.
Due to current expansion of our member services a new position has been created and there is an opportunity for a bright, enthusiastic, self-motivated person to step into the position of Assistant to the Guild Copy and Design Centre Manager.
As the Guild Copy & Design Centre Assistant, the appointee will hold the following key duties and responsibilities:
- Customer service
- Digital printing to Colour and Black/White Copier/Printers
- Graphic design
- Large format printing and laminating
- Document finishing and binding
- Heat press transfer and other related services.
- Guild Copy & Design Centre supervisory, administrative and financial duties
Under the supervision of the GC&DC Manager, the appointee will:
- Assist in coordinating all activities in the GC&DC
- Be responsible for general administrative duties and record maintenance
- Oversee all aspects of production and customer service
- Operate and maintain copying and printing equipment
- Supervise casual staff and
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
In order to succeed in this position it is essential that the successful applicant will have:
Minimum
- High school graduate education or equivalent
- Some experience in a customer service environment
- To be able to operate a till
- The ability to work in a Windows or Mac OS environment
- The ability to learn quickly the processes of a copy/print and finishing centre.
Highly regarded
- Some experience in working in a copy/print and finishing centre
- Able to operate high/mid volume xerographic, scanner, and finishing equipment
- Able to learn new procedures and the operation of new equipment quickly
- Resourceful
- Follow and give oral and written instructions
- Work as a team member
- Onteract with the university community and off-campus clients in a helpful, courteous and friendly manner.
- Have applied health and safety regulations in relation to the use of equipment and chemicals.
- Operation of personal computer; software programs including Microsoft word processing and desktop publisher tools.
- Creative graphic design skills and ability to use Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator applications
- Effective public relations, customer sales and service.
