Curtin Chemistry Club

Contact: guy.travers@student.curtin.edu.au

The purpose of the Curtin Chemistry Club is to promote a more social and friendly atmosphere among chemistry students. Facilities will be upgraded after much neglect, with special attention paid to the common room making it more inviting and friendly to new students. Academic opportunities will be increased through introductions of first year students to more advanced students, with emphasis placed on the mutual sharing of knowledge and experience. Essential equipment will also be sold to students with heavy discounts. The visibility and status of chemistry and its affiliated students will be increased through numerous social activities and fundraisers.
Chemistry has a bad public image, in the general public and throughout the campus. The primary goal of the club will be to support students both socially and academically, and to raise the profile of chemistry as a general science by demonstrating it is not an impossibly difficult discipline dominated by “mad scientists’.

Dot Dot Dash

Contact: finchoj3@hotmail.com

The aim of dot dot dash is to allow creative writing students a collective voice, to provide a structure and discipline to creative peers and to allow people to get excited about making art with words again. Dot dot dash signifies several things: a collective sub-rosa consciousness, morsecode for (yo)u, a roundabout conversation, a children’s game of duck duck goose, the simple ever-echoing beat and rhythm of the completely-experienced life, with all the pupils dilating and feet tapping and soul humming that that entails. The Algonquin round table, the Mary Shelly/Lord Byron/Percy Shelly pact, mcsweeneys…it all had to start from somewhere.
Here, at Curtin it will start with dotdotdash.

Vice President - Steven Finch
